My Summer Nail Polish Picks

Following my latest Summery Haul (post here) I got into the summery spirit and decided to share my favourite summer nail polishes. These are the only nail polishes I've been wearing in the past few months, so they're all firm favourites of mine, and they look perfect on both fingers and toes!
I have a bit of a crazy love for the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints, as they come in gorgeous colours, have an amazing formula and are an incredible price! I have 4 shades in total, but these 3 in particular are mostly on my nails at the moment and will continue to be during summer! 307 Grapefruit is a perfect grapefruit/coral shade, and I can imagine it would look amazing with a tan (which I am yet to have!). 308 Prickle Pear is a gorgeous Lilac shade, that although is a pastel shade, still remains perfectly bright on the nails. 321 Guava is my latest purchase, and I love it! A bright, perfect turquoise.  All of these have the most amazing glossy finish, which I love!
Next we have 951 by Sinful Colors, a gorgeous sky blue, this was my first Sinful Colors polish and I really love the formula, two coats are perfect and it dries quickly, and for £1.99 what a steal! 180 Candyfloss by Mavala, is again my first experience of the brand, and is a gorgeous candyfloss pink with a slightly iridescent pearly sparkly finish, which looks beautifully polished and fresh on days where I want my nails to be a little less subtle! My last summer nail polish choice is the Maybelline Express 40 Second Finish in 155 Fuschia as it is the fastest drying nail polish I have, lasts a week without chipping, requires 2 coats and is the most beautiful pink!
So those are my summer picks for nail polish, what are your favourite nail polishes for summer?

A Summery Haul

When I went to London on Monday with Laura (post here) we popped into Boots, Forever 21, Topshop and Primark (as well as a few others). As soon as we got into Boots we basically homed in on a Sinful Colors stand, as we hadn't managed to find any in Brighton (although I've heard they can be found in the Eastbourne Boots). I had a very tough decision of choosing a colour, but I controlled myself and only bought 1 nail polish in the shade 951 Why Not, a lovely summery blue for only £1.99!
Next we popped into Forever 21, and WOW I could so easily have bought the entire shop. I only picked up two pieces, both bits of jewellery. The first, a gorgeous, subtle gold necklace, with a solid bar and then a chain. I love adding this to virtually any outfit. And then a pair of black and gold triangular stud earrings. Each of these were just £3.15, amazing! I had planned to do some serious shopping in the MASSIVE Oxford Street Primark, but once we got in there, I was a little overwhelmed. There was just SO much stuff, maybe a little too much. I picked up a pair of lovely tortoiseshell sunglasses for just £1!
I also went shopping on Tuesday with my mum into Reading and she was very lovely and treated me to a few bits and bobs from Primark. First was this lovely black, with silver studs clutch for £6 as well as these really exciting, super glittery jelly flip flops for £3. I also got 2 pairs of these cute white frilly socks for just £1.50 each, much better than the Topshop prices, and they came in other pretty colours too! Lastly are two pairs of these fun sunglasses in mint green and lilac for just £1 each. I got both because I just couldn't decide between the two pretty colours!

Hope you enjoyed seeing the few bits and bobs I've picked up in the last week. Have any of you bought anything nice lately?

A lovely Day in London & The Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer Launch

Sorry I've been a bit absent lately. I finished exams Friday, then it was my birthday Saturday, I came home from uni on Sunday and then I spent Monday in London! Also, just a warning, sorry about how photo heavy this post it, oops!

When an e-mail from Benefit dropped into my inbox, inviting me to the launch of their new Stay Flawless Primer, I couldn't say no! And when Laura from Lola And Behold said she had the day off work, we both just had to go and have a lovely little day in London.
We decided to meet in London for around 2pm at London Victoria, and we had a little wander about, chat and popped into Forever 21, Boots, Primark and a few others. After a little mooch we headed to Pizza Express for some dinner! Because it was my birthday on the Saturday (8th June) Pizza Express had sent me a code for a free bottle of prosecco and so we used this and had a great time! They also came out with a cute little chocolate cake and a candle too! After stuffing ourselves, we headed off to find the event!
The event was held at Below Zero, and I knew that this was where the London Ice Bar was, but when I found out we would get to go into the ice bar for free AND get two drinks, I was just supersuper excited!! Thanks Benefit SO much! As usual, Benefit had set up the event flawlessly, and I loved all the adorable props they used.
The event was to celebrate the launch of their new Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer. I lovelove Benefit and especially The Porefessional primer, so I was extra excited for the launch of this! It acts like a magnet to lock on your foundation for 15 fresh and flawless hours and the stick primer, is a clear and invisible formula that glides directly onto skin for optimal wear. It works best by applying this directly onto skin and then immediately applying foundation, blending together and then allowing to set a little before applying powder.
We were very kindly given a primer, and colour matched to an Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, as well as being given a foundation brush AND i won some goodies int he quiz at the end, including an Ultra Plush Lipgloss and two gorgeous Longwear Powder Eyeshadows, thanks! Keep an eye out for reviews on their way!

I had a great time at the event, and I met some more lovely blogging ladies as well as having a great day with Laura! Make sure you check her out!

Have any of you tried the new primer yet? What is your favourite primer?

My Lovely Trevor Sorbie Experience

On Thursday I had a lovely visit to the Trevor Sorbie Salon in Brighton (situated near Donatellos/Pizza Express and The Lanes Health and Beauty) and I was treated to a fabulous cut and colour by Kate and Louella and all of the wonderful Trevor Sorbie team.
The awful state of my hair before
I'd seen a few of the other Brighton blogger girlies getting some fabulous new hair do's and after I had booked mine I just couldn't wait for the day! I managed to book myself an appointment with the lovely Kate the day before my last first year uni exam, which was a lovely little de-calming session and after my great consultation with Kate I felt at ease. I also felt I could chat away to Kate easily and felt comfortable enough to ask her lots of questions. Normally I'm too terrified of hairdressers to say a word!
Consultation with Kate

My hair prior to the haircut, was a mess. I'd home dyed it 'cherry red' middle February and it left  bands and strips of red, and my natural colour. Whilst this colour was marketed as a semi-permanent, it obviously was not, as 4 months later it was still rather red and showed no signs of shifting. Not the most attractive of looks!
Cleansing the red out (as much as we could)
Applying the lighter highlights
Enjoying the foils.
In goes the dye!
I really wanted to get my hair as close back to my natural colour as possible, and possibly lighter too for summer! Because of the coppery red tones, we first had to cleanse the original colour out, and then Kate applied some blondey highlights, we then dyed it the colour we decided on. It was a bit of an experimenting process as my red hair was a lot more stubborn than we had originally anticipated so we had to work with my hair as we went on through the process. In the end I got the exact result I was after and I love it :) After the colouring was done, the lovely Louella gave me a nice trim and took off what was needed!
After
I absolutely love my new colour, thanks so much Trevor Sorbie!! I was very well looked after during my visit, and was constantly offered, refreshments and magazines etc. I was also given a Salon X-clusive Nourishing Shampoo for dry/damaged hair and a Salon X-clusive Caring Conditioner to keep my new locks in tip top condition!

I really enjoyed my cut and colour at Trevor Sorbie, so if you're in Brighton and looking for a gorgeous cut or colour, make sure to pop in! Make sure to check out their Twitter and Kate's too.

Have any of you been to Trevor Sorbie or had your hair done lately?

National Allergy Awareness Month

For some reason I thought National Allergy (and asthma) Awareness Month was June, but I just realised it was May, oops! I just wanted to do a little post about this, as we're only a couple of days into June, so its sort of still May in my head! With over 21 million allergy sufferers in the UK, I thought the condition deserved some awareness! Allergies rang from foods to materials and across a broad spectrum of severity, with allergies growing affecting a large amount of people

Personally, I suffer from multiple food allergies, including poultry, fish, nuts, eggs, kiwis, coconuts, lentils, peas, raw vegetables and a few others. I'm also allergic to latex, feathers and suffer from hayfever and asthma. So organisations for allergies etc are close to me. I've been allergic to most of the foods from the age of 4, and I was told as I grew older these would disappear, however the opposite happened and I became allergic to more foods. However, as I have had these allergies from such a young age, I'm pretty much used to my diet now, and I don't even feel like I'm missing out and I'm pretty open and happy to talk about them.
I wanted to write this post to raise awareness to the severity of food allergies. Some people overlook allergies, and some people have even thought I was lying, just because I 'didn't like' these foods and that I was being fussy. I'm quite a shy person and piping up at someones house to say 'oh sorry i'm allergic to that' used to often scare me, as i'd feel rude for putting friends parents etc at an inconvenience.

An example of this is at one Christmas dinner at my secondary school I asked for the vegetarian option but then for a pig in blanket, to which they got annoyed I had gone for the vegetarian option but then was eating meat and they thought I was lying about my allergy to poultry. I hate confrontation, so that sort of scenario was horrible for me, and being the timid little year 7 or 8 that I was, it was a scary time too, and often people don't realise some people are just allergic to weird things!
Many people also don't realise the seriousness of cross-contamination. Often I've had an allergic reaction eating a dish I know should be safe, and the only explanation can be cross-contamination of utensils in the kitchen for example.

Some people also aren't aware of the severity of how dangerous it can be to be to eat food I am allergic to, thinking it is only a mild intolerance. Personally, my throat swells up, I get itchy and rashy around the mouth, my lips swell, I get hives etc. The most threatening situation would be anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal allergic reaction which touch wood I have never experiencesd and also luckily I've never had to use my epi-pen, and hopefully I won't ever have to!

As I've grown older, i'm not so afraid to speak out about my allergies and i'm pretty used to the 'but nobody is allergic to chicken' response by now, and luckily my friends are all very understanding and good around me. I also don't really like to make a song and dance about my allergies, and prefer to keep it quiet, but sometimes people do just to have to know to be on the safe side, so if you're like me, don't be shy! As I've also become older, I've noticed much more options for allergy sufferers whilst eating out, and many menus have symbols for dishes that contains nuts etc, which is very helpful.

Thanks for reading, and hopefully this has raised a bit more awareness towards allergies! Let me know if you enjoyed this sort of post! For more information check out allergy uk and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments or on twitter!

Do you or your friends have any allergies?

Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask Review

I had my second exam today, which could have gone better, but oh well! Two done one to go, and first year is over, eeeek! I thought today I would share a mask that has been doing my skin wonders during the stressful deadlines/exam period!

The Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask*is a cult beauty product in the blogging world, and everyone's rave reviews has meant this product has been firmly on my product wishlist for months. When I was offered the opportunity to try this out, I practically leaped out of my chair and said yes please!

The packaging of this product is very clean, fresh, simple and light. I love the cap that goes over the nozzle, keeping the mask airtight and fresh! The size of the pump is perfect for distributing a perfect amount of product and minimising waste. The mask also comes with a cloth, perfect for gently wiping off the mask.
REN's Glycolactic mask is a bio active peel mask designed to remove dead skin cells and renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of lines and improve skin tone.  Made with 5-6.5% Gloycolic Acid, it is both gentle and effective at exfoliating away dirt, actively dissolving the bonds that hold dead skin build-up to reveal a healthy glow.  It contains natural fruit acids from passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple and Papain from papaya to exfoliate the outer layer of skin, encouraging cell turnover and smoothing fine lines. Perfect for combatting congestion, blackheads and blemishes.
It is suggested to apply a generous amount to clean skin. The product is thick and has a slight jam like consistency (in a good way) and the scent definitely reminds me of marmalade (again, in a good way!). Then leave the mask on for 10 minutes, dampen the cloth with warm water and use to gently wipe the mask off.  (it is okay to experience some tingling during application).
This has been a perfect mask for exam/deadline season, and I've really enjoyed using this twice a week and I have definitely noticed amazing brightening effects and really feel like it has renewed my stressed out skin. To be quite honest I didn't think I would see the immediate effects that everyone raves about with this mask, but I really did! After one use, I immediately had softer, brighter and fresher looking skin! I can see how this mask is a lot of people's holy grail mask.

I've really loved being able to pamper myself with this gorgeous mask, and I really want to try out a lot of other REN products now!

This mask is available on Cult Beauty for £30

Have any of you tried this mask or any REN products? What's your favourite face mask?

May Empties

I started to get into the swing of blogging again, but I had my first exam yesterday, with another exam on Monday and Friday! But then it's my birthday on the 8th and summer really begins! Today I thought I would write a May empties post, although I know it is now the 1st of June (and a week till my birthday, yay!), but I thought I would share with you all the products I finished up in May. I'm pretty rubbish at finishing up products and make-up, everything seems to last forever, and when I do finish things, I normally forget to write empties posts so here goes!
Johnson's Face Care Daily Essentials Face Wipes for all skin types
I love these wipes, and this is probably my 10th packet of these. They work perfectly on my skin without drying my skin out or causing break outs, and I feel like after a lazy night out or something these successfully take off all my make-up! I normally buy these when they're on offer too!
Amie Spring Clean Cooling Clay Mask
I used this face mask recently on a pamper night (post here), and I loved it. From this sachet, which I got in my Brighton blogger meet goodie bag, i managed to get about 3 generous uses, which is pretty good! I have tried another Amie mask in the past, and so far I have liked both!
Green People Hydrating, Firming Serum
I used this a few nights before bed, and really enjoyed trying out a natural product by Green People. The smell was a bit too natural for me, if that even makes sense! But I enjoyed using this sachet up and it lasted a good 5 days.
Jamela 24K Gold Under Eye Masks
Another great product included in the Brighton blogger meet up goodie bag which I really enjoyed trying! I forgot to include these in the photograph but I did a recent post on them (here) and I really enjoyed these. Definitely looking into investing in some of these, as whilst originally they sound pricey, they work at around £2 a pair when you buy them in a pack of 16.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
This is my favourite night time cleanser, and i adore the cleanse and polish! My mum first introduced this to me during my spotty phase and it helped then and it still works wonders now and keeping my skin under control and effectively removing all my make-up. I brought this tube with me to uni when I started and I just finished it up last week, so it lasted me from September-June! I also like to cut the tube down towards the end to get every last scrap out!
Purely Natural Oily Skin Toner
I really enjoyed using this natural toner for oily skin (post here), and loved using it after a face mask as it really refreshed my skin. However as it was a fresh product it had a use by date of May, so whilst i didn't completely finish it, I had to chuck it out although I did get a few months use out if it and it was enjoyable.
Olay Beauty Fluid
This is my holy grail daytime moisturiser, and I will forever repurchase this. It does everything you would want from a daytime moisturiser, and it works beautifully under make-up to keep your skin in lovely condition. This bottle has lasted me from September-June and I have used this pretty much every day!
Effervescent Vitamin C Lemon and Lime Flavour
Last, but not least, not necessarily a beauty, skincare or make-up product, but I finished a tube of my Effervescent Vitamin C lemon and lime flavour tablets.  I think these have been a saviour at uni, as well as making sure I get some of my vitamins, they also make me drink a large glass of water. I have one of these every morning (or the orange flavour) dissolved in a glass of water with my breakfast!
Have any of you finished up any products lately?
